You Want Me and I Want You Too

We had spent the evening eating pizza with the others and then the men, including Mitch who had come downstairs, also against the doctor’s orders, had played cards for most of the night in the drawing room, while the ladies had sat and read or talked amongst themselves.

Doctor Lambert, who like most companions needed little to no sleep, headed to the Aeternus Refugium, where he had permanent rooms and a small, but well-equipped lab, with samples from the beast in the cellar for testing. Upon his departure at around eight, he had announced that he would be back in the morning hopefully with results of the tests.

“If you ladies could make sure that Master Blood and Alpha Matheson turn in early and get some rest, I would appreciate it.” He had requested of Anisa and me.

“We will do our best, doctor.” I had replied and he had thanked us.

I was surprised to watch him give a quick kiss to Cassie goodbye, stroking her cheek gently with a soft look. I slid Anisa a surprised glance since I knew she had told me that Cassie and Fred were romantically involved.

“It’s different, the three of them, but they seem to have everything worked out.” Anisa had told me in a whisper.

I gasped out loud and Anisa looked at me in concern. I ignored her.

I am not being judgmental! I just know that I wouldn’t like it for myself! That doesn’t mean that other people have to live the way that I live! I thought back to him.

I felt his mental laugh through the connection we seem to have developed. I meant it when I said I was glad. I wouldn’t share you either.

Can I have my thoughts to myself, please? I thought to him in irritation.

A chuckle came through the connection, then, As you wish.

“Were you and Castor having a conversation just now?” Anisa asked curiously.

I glanced at her giving her a small nod.

“Devin talks to me all of the time like that!” She told me with a large smile.

Great! Another soulmate thing I was unaware of.

A few hours later Castor was standing in the doorway to the drawing room. He looked at Katja who was sitting on one side of the sofa, opposite Anisa. They had both been quietly reading their Kindles while the men still talked and played cards.

Castor said weakly to her, “I am tired.”

She looked at him in concern and said, “Let’s go to bed.”

Standing she came to his side wrapping her arm
